untreated will later on lead to AIDS (Acquired
Immunodeficiency Syndrome).

Decreases immune system by targeting helper T


cells (helps fight off infection).
Once you have HIV, you have it for life.
HOW IS HIV/AIDS SPREAD?

Blood - Blood Transfusion

Semen (cum) and Pre Seminal fluid (pre-cum)

Rectal fluids (anal sex)

Vaginal fluids (mother offspring transmission


& cunnilingus)
Breast milk (infected mother offspring)
WRONG NOTIONS ON HOW HIV IS
SPREAD

Air or water

Saliva, tears or sweat not mixed with blood of an HIV


positive person
Shaking hands, hugging, sharing toilets, sharing
dishes/drinking glasses or closed mouth or social kissing
with someone who is HIV positive
Other sexual activities that dont involve exchange of
body fluids. (e.g. touching)
DIAGNOSIS

HIV testing Blood Test

TP (Triponema Pallidum) Test

It may take HIV antibodies as long as six months


after infection to be produced in quantities large
enough to show up in standard blood tests.
The only way to know for sure if you have HIV is
to get tested!
