Modi

Mr. Umesh K. Modi is the Group Chairman, President and CEO of the Umesh
Modi group, he has been instrumental in bringing the largest number of
internationally renowned collaborators to India.

He took the bold step of initiating joint ventures and alliances with European
and American companies in the 1980s when it was not as common as it is today.

He was awarded as Man of the Year award for the year 1984 from the
Ministry of Industries.

Established in 1933, Modi Sugar Mills laid the

Established a plant to produce refined candy sugar,

making it the only producer of the same in India.

Producing 90,000 tonnes of plantation white sugar.

Added another arm, in 1998, they
collaborated with SBEC Systems Limited, UK,
to form SBEC Sugar Limited.

The annual production of SBEC amounts to a
whopping 1,40,000 tonne of plantation white
sugar.
To utilize the bagasse produced during sugar
production, a 12 MW co-generation power plant

The first merchant sponge iron plant in India.
