Homestays
You are able to be completely
emerged into the Nicaraguan
culture by staying with local
families.

They serve you breakfast, lunch,

and dinner.

You are only allowed to speak

Spanish with the homestays

We had the opportunity to cook

dinner with our homestays!
Clinics in Nicaragua
We observed the local doctors and
nurses in the base clinics and on
home visits.

We went to the local schools and

took the height and weight of all
the children in the school.

Everyday was a new adventure and

a new experience!
La Escuela de la Grand Pearl Lago
Some students were placed at a school about
20 minutes from the city in Granada.

It was right across the street from a beautiful

lake.

Students built unforgettable connections with

the students.

Students also learned a lot about how

schools are run in rural Nicaragua.

We taught lessons about self-love, yoga,

writing, exercise, nutrition, & more!
Asilo (Nursing home in Nicaragua)
Students had the opportunity to work with
the women of Asilo.

Students:

-Painted nails and gave hand massages

-Brought the children from Solidaridad to

visit to give friendship bracelets.

-Visited the farm

All in all, strong connections were made

with the women of Asilo, despite the
language barrier.
Corazon Contento
Means Happy Heart

A place for children and

adults with
disabilities

Offers OT and PT
services

They recycle paper to

make paintings and
keychains that they
later sell.
Solidaridad
This is a center for youth in the
community.

UC has volunteered in this community

for years and has a great relationship
with the center.

Children were taught all about health,

germs, being active, and setting
goals!

The children visited a local nursing home

to interact with the woman in the
home.
Adalita (school)
Students were taught about the
importance of healthy eating
and nutrition. They even did
some healthy meal planning!

They also did a lot of personal

reflection in their new journals.

Dancing was one of the kids
