Head-stock :
A nonmoving part of a machine or power tool that
supports a revolving part, such as the spindle of a
lathe.
The part of a machine containing or directly suppo
rting the moving or working parts, as the assembl
y supporting and
driving the live spindle in a lathe.
Head stock supports the main spindle in the
bearings and aligns it properly. It also houses
necessary transmission mechanism for different
speeds. It supports the main spindle in the
bearings and aligns it properly. It has a
mechanism for getting different speeds.
Accessories mounted to head stock spindle are
3/4 jaw chuck, lathe center and lathe dog, collect
chuck, face plate and magnetic chuck.

Tail-stock:
It contains the supporting elements i.e.
quill

Turret assembly: It is the part of


machine which has tools to work on job.
Generally it has ten to twelve tools.
