WHO IS STEVEN BERKOFF?

Steven Berkoff is an English character actor, author, playwright and theatre director.
He is best known for his performances in villainous roles such as Lt. Col Podovsky in
Rambo: first blood part //
And for playing General Orlov In the James Bond film Octopussy
EARLY LIFE

Steven Berkoff was born on the 3rd of August 1937 in Stepney in east London , h.is family
was originally Jewish and his father was a Taylor.
Berkoffs father had abbreviated his family surname to Berks in order to win them more
chance of getting into Britain
Berkoff attended Raines Foundation Grammar School
CAREER- THEATRE

Berkoff started his theatre training on the repertory company at her majestys Theatre in
Barrow-in-Furness.
As well as an actor, Berkoff is a noted playwright and theatre director with a unique style
of writing and performance.
His earliest plays are adaptations of of works by Franz Kafka: such as the metamorphosis

In film Berkoff had also played a corrupt art dealer named Victor Maitland in Beverly
Hills Cop
And he has also played the part of a gangsta in the 1990 remake of the popular film The
krays
ACHIEVEMENTS

In 1991 Berkoffs play Kvetch won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for best comedy.
In 1998 he was nominated for a The Society Of London Theatres Laurence Olivier
Award for best Entertainment for his one man show Shakespeares Villains
