SOFTWARE
PERFORMANCE
On most systems software performance
plays a role equally as important as that
of hardware. When ordering or specifying
computer software, the analyst must be
assured that it will function properly.
Many hours may be spent testing and
debugging software before it is finally
integrated into the system.

EQUIPMENT PERFORMANCE
Communications equipment plays
a key role in many information
systems . Business systems may
include a variety of connective
arrangements including
microcomputer to mainframe links,
LANs, WANs, VANs.

PROTOTYPE INSTALLATION
It is a pilot project in which
hardware and software are
acquired and put in place in a
limited environment, primarily for
testing and evaluation.
BENCHMARK
TESTING
It is used during
implementation phase to
ensure that the new system is
installed and working properly.
LEASE VS. PURCHASE
Organizations tend to purchase
equipment where capital costs are low
and the technology is slow to change.
High capital costs in a rapidly changing
technology argue for equipment
leasing.
PERSONNEL
Finding personnel who will
operate the new or modified
system is another part of the
system development phase.
