observation
Peer observation should not cause your colleague stress; it should be
viewed as part of his/her professional development.
Your colleague should be given adequate notice that the observation is
going to take place.
Prior to the observation, the focus of the observation should be discussed
and negotiated with your colleague.
A classroom observation form can be used in order to clarify the focus of
the observation.
The observer should be as unobtrusive as possible.
The discussion and feedback that takes place after the observation should
centre on the agreed focus.
The discussion and feedback should take place as soon after the
observation as possible.
Guidelines for giving feedback

Feedback should be descriptive and not judgmental or evaluative


Emphasize what was positive
Clarity is important be clear about what you are saying
Be specific about what you are saying and avoid general comments
The feedback should focus on behavior and not on the person
Refer to behavior that can be changed
Look for ways and opportunities to share information, rather than giving
advice
Dont say everything there is to be said but rather give information that
the teacher would find most useful.
Keep the communication channels open: let the teacher respond and ask
questions. And check that what you have tried to convey has been
understood
Decide together what the follow up plan will be
