The Carrier: Definition: a carrier can be defined as


someone who, under a special contract, has received
goods for the purpose of carrying them from oneplace to
another. Thus the carrier is responsible for the goods
while in his/her possession.
According to the Hague-Visby Rules, the term carrier
includes the owner or the charterer of a vessel who enters
into a contract with a shipper. In more common terms
the shipowner.
Bills of Lading : Bills of Lading are documents which
show that there is an agreement between shippers and
carriers.

should specify, in particular, the precautions necessary for

Cargo plan a ships plan which shows the distribution of
all cargo parcels stowed on bo ard the vessel for the
voyage. Each entry onto the plan woulddetail the
quantity, the weight and the port of discharge. The plan is
constructed by the Ships Cargo Officer and would
effectively show special loads such as heavy-lifts,
hazardous cargoes, and valuable cargo, in addition to all
other commodities being shipped.
