Automated Toll Collection

Automated Toll Collection

Major advantages of PSoC controller

 There is no other microcontroller that has programmable voltage

 Hardware generators of pseudorandom and CRC code as well as

analog modulators are unique to this families

 MAC (Multiply-accumulate) is an essential part of digital signal

processors

 Option for low voltage supply (~1V) is a tremendous advantage

in battery -operated systems.

Timers, counters, and PWM units are more flexible than the usual
implementation.

 Automatic code writing for accessing all the peripherals in use.

BLOCK DIAGRAM DESCRIPTION:

 PSoC : Programmable System on Chip

PSoC (Programmable System on Chip) represents a whole new

concept in microcontroller development. Consist of 8-bit
Microcontrollers.

Characteristics of PSoC microcontrollers

 MAC unit, hardware 8x8 multiplication, with result stored in 32-bit

accumulator,

 Changeable working voltage, 3.3V or 5V.

 Possibility of small voltage supply, to 1V.

 Programmable frequency choice.

 Card reader (RFID)

RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification.

Small electronic devices that consist of a small chip and an antenna.

The chip typically is capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less.

The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a

magnetic

strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card; it provides a unique

identifier for that object.

 Display (LCD)

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat panel used for

electronically displaying information such as text, images,

and moving pictures

 keypad

Keypads are a part of HMI or Human Machine Interface and

play really important role in a small embedded system where

human interaction or human input is needed

ALCHCOL DETECTION USING PSOC

The Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety and the National

Highway Traffic Safety Administration have entered into a

cooperative research agreement to explore the feasibility,

the potential benefits of, and the public policy challenges

associated with a more widespread use of in-vehicle

technology to prevent alcohol-impaired driving.

Almost 9,000 road traffic deaths could

be prevented every year if alcohol
detection devices were used
in all vehicles.

SENSOR

 A sensor is a device that measures a physical

quantity and converts it into a signal which
can be read by an observer or by an instrument.

LCD (DISPLAY)

 It is a thin, flat panel used for electronically displaying information

such as text, images, and moving pictures. Its uses include
monitors for computers, televisions, instrument panels.
ADVANTAGES (automated toll collection)

 Toll Lane Capacity

 Vehicle Waiting Times
 Reduction of Toll User Costs
 Simplified Infrastructure and Accounting
System
 Toll Agency Costs
 User Costs
DISADVANTAGES

 Payment Enforcement

 Legal and Technical Criteria for Payment Enforcement

 Automatic Vehicle Classification (AVC)

ADVANTAGES (ALCOHOLIC DETECTION)

 Almost road traffic deaths could be prevented every year

alcohol detection .

 Safety is more .

Traffic jamming will be prevented because

of no accidents .
DISADVANTAGES

 Expensive (in the sense cost is more)

 If we cannot wipe properly its shows wrong results
