Repentance

Luke Chapter 24 : 44 - 48
Then He said “These are the words that I
spoke to you while I was still with you, that
all things must be fulfilled which were
written in the Law of Moses and the
Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me”
Luke Chapter 24 : 44 - 48
And He opened their understanding, that they might
comprehend the Scriptures.
And He said to them “Thus it is written, and thus it
was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise
from the dead on the 3rd day
And that REPENTANCE and forgiveness of sins
should be preached to ALL nations, beginning at
Jerusalem.
And YOU are witnesses of these things”
But what is Repentance?
 Sin has a strange, powerful, seductive
capacity.

 It can cause us to rationalise and justify

what we do

 But the wages of sin is DEATH

 Matt 3 – John puts out a call for repentance
saying for the Kingdom is at hand.

 Kingdom – the entry of the Rule of God

into our lives that brings His blessings

 The Bible defines the Kingdom as

righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit
 Righteousness – means that God will come
and do, by His grace & power, what I can
never do by mine.
 Peace – not just solitude or quiet. Peace
here means the full integration of our
personality, and things working without
conflict in the component parts of our lives
i.e. family, business, leisure, etc.
 Joy – all the Lords ways of righteousness &
peace bring profound joy.
The Bible speaks of Repentance
as an ongoing progressive
changing: -

 Of my own NATURE
 My MIND
 My view point
 My attitudes
How?
 By my CONSTANT & CONTINUAL
openness
 Openness to the Spirit of God working in
my life
 Showing me how & what to change

 And very important me making the

decisions to CHANGE & DOING IT.
The call of the Lord is not just
“repent”
The call of the Lord is: -
“I will renew you, I will restore you, -
COME”

The Lord says He will make a new dimension

of His Kingdom possible if we will make a
way
The way we do that is through
REPENTANCE
Repentance?

A gift from God of His character to

us.
A moment by moment decision to
change our mind, to return to God
Not a “one off” but
A lifestyle
