2
Introduction:
Carbon nanotubes are widely used in the field of
nanotechnology.
What are CNTs?

Categories of CNTs:
1- SWNT,
2- Double walled CNTs,
3- MWNT.

3
Synthesis methods:
Arc discharge:

4
Laser ablation:

5
Carbon vapor deposition: (CVD)

6
Properties:
Electrical properties,

Mechanical properties,

Thermal properties.

7
Dispersion of CNTs:
Purification,
Functionalization:

8
Applications:
Fillers:
The use of CNTs as fillers in different materials to form nano-
composites is one of the most developed fields in nano-
technology, Why?

Electronic devices:
CNTs are used as field emission sources when a potential is
applied between CNT surface and anode. Electrons are easily
emitted.

9
Batteries:
Lithium batteries, has a unique properties due to its low
electronegativity, hence electrons are easily donated from Li.

However, what is the limitation? How to fix it?

Sensors:
What is the role of CNTs in sensors?

10
Scanning probe tips:
For images with better resolutions.

Medical applications:
SWNTs and MWNTs prove their potential to serve as safer
and more affective to drug delivery methods.

11
Limitation:
Toxicity of CNTs:

What is the effects of CNTs on humans?

How to fix it?

1- Incorporation of CNTs into polymeric materials,
2- Coating of CNTs.

12
Conclusion:
Unique properties of CNTs,
Methods of synthesis,
Great potential of CNTs and their wide use in various
applications and their promising results and innovation in the
future.
Its limitation can be controlled without reduction of their
properties.
