What is an Editor?

Weekly Duties

• Attend all meetings within the club and the club


officer-training conferences with the lieutenant
governor.
• Post a calendar of events to publicize meetings.
• Make morning announcements, posters, signs,
and banners to promote projects and meetings.
• Take pictures at meetings and events.
Monthly Duties

• Attend club board meetings.


• Attend Kiwanis club meetings and provide
updates on club happenings.
• Update the club Web site.
•Produce a bimonthly or monthly newsletter.
Newsletter

Produce it on a regular basis! It should have:


1) Club president's remarks
2) Calendar of recent/upcoming events
3) One "fun" article (facts, Kiwanis Family, comics)
4) Minimum of one story about a recent past project
5) Minimum of one story about an upcoming project
6) Key Club symbol, division number, and school mascot
7) At least a picture or two
Annual Duties

• Receive all materials from past club editor.


•Save all published newsletters/templates, signs,
calendars, and banners.
•Take pictures and document club events, meetings, and
overall work in a scrapbook to be entered in district and
International contest (when applicable).
•Publicize meetings by posting fliers and Key Club posters.
•Set up a filing system for the incoming club editor.
When releasing the newsletters…

•Do not overprint newsletters


•Print more when requested
•Post your newsletter online
•Save in pdf
•Upload to reflector
What should your articles do?

•It should inform your members what's been


going on in your area!
•It should recognize any members!
•It should add excitement to the members.
What should we write about?

•Anything!
-Events
- Fall Rally, DCON, etc.
-Recognition
-Members, clubs, etc
-Advertisement
-Upcoming events, recruitment
How should we write articles?

•Always remember, the 5 W's and how.


•Have a beginning, middle, and end.
•Do not get too personal.
•Keep your audience in mind.
•Have a catchy title or picture.
CNH Key

-Every month, there are 3 topics to write about!


-Download the template and just follow the format.
-Turn it in by the 15th. The CNH Key with your article
will be posted by the 20th. (might have changed)
-Submit your articles to Vivian also so you can get
divisional points!
Grammar

•Grammar is VERY important!


•It can make or break your article!
•Always send your articles to an adult
and a friend.
•Be professional!
