Welcome, one and all

to the world-famous

CBS Television Quiz

presented by
Gil Fates
and Frances Buss
A brief history of our quiz, before we get started
You contestants should be
proud to be on the first ever
regularly-scheduled game
show in television history.
While game shows had been
aired before, they were more
experimental, and only had
one episode. The CBS
Television Quiz, meanwhile,
had a regular time slot and
NOW WITH schedule (Wednesdays 8:30-
GAME SHOWS! 9:30)
Decline and fall
As WWII progressed,
wartime television began to
focus more and more on the
war. The Quiz was first
moved to Thursdays, then
had five minutes taken off the
end of its runtime for a
civilian news broadcast, and
was finally cancelled after
just under a year had passed.
No footage or photographs
remain, and the format has
been lost to history as well.
BUT!
We do know one thing about the format- Will five
It presented the contestants with an
answer, and required them to come up
volunteers
with a question. Its been described as a from the
proto-Jeopardy!
audience
So that is how well play. The questions
in our quiz mostly consist of come
information presented in our slides, but
there will be some extra general-
forward?
knowledge questions added to spice
things up a tad.
Some quick rules for our contestants
Even though our show got cancelled in May of 1942, our time-travelling
version will include questions from the entire decade.
An answer or a picture will be flashed onscreen, and the contestants will
race one another to deduce the answer. The first participant to raise their
hand will be called upon. If they should answer correctly, they will receive
a point.
If they do not, then the second-place contestant will be called upon. If they
answer incorrectly, then the answer shall be provided and the show will
move on.
