 ABOUT PIERRE BALMAIN

Born in Saint-Jean-de Maurienne,

Savoie on May 18, 1914 and died in
Paris, France on June 29, 1982.
Before becoming a designer he was
stdying architecture at the Ecole des
Beaux-Arts in 1933 as well as
freelance drawing for fashion
designer; Robert Piguet.
Founder of leading post war fashion
house Balmain.
His designs are known for being
sophisticated and elegant.
 FASHION HOUSE OF BALMAIN

The fashion house opened in 1945

It showcased the post war style inspired
by Diors New Look
His firat collection was featured in Vogue
and received a very positive write up
which was a beginning to his success.
Balmain soon became international and
won the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award
in 1955.
