ALCATEL-LUCENT — INTERNAL PROPRIETARY — USE PURSUANT TO COMPANY INSTRUCTION
Main lessons
• Both Sercomm and Askey are :
- STRONG to quickly deliver iterations of an existing design.
- WEAK to translate requirements into a proper design compliant with these requirements.
- VERY focused on speed versus Quality and Requirement Compliancy. Requirement compliancy is not their first priority

• Initial schedules are built to meet customer dates; real schedule is discovered as far as the project goes on which leads
to important delay at the end.

• Although the contractual relationship is governed according to the ODM model, the day-to-day work reality shows that we
are more in a Joint Design Model with important involvement of ALU team expected by the ODM
• Due to the ODM model, no reuse was possible between Sercomm’s design and Askey’s design as each ODM has the
owership of its design
• Having an ODM already experimented in QC technology is critical for the success of the project

• Model quantities, delivery dates and cost need to be negociated before awarding the project to the ODM to avoid new
quotes, negociation and opex conflicts during the project.
