The document discusses guidelines for hypertension management according to the JNC 8 2014 report. It defines four categories of blood pressure: normal, prehypertension, stage I hypertension, and stage II hypertension. Normal blood pressure is defined as systolic below 120 mm Hg and diastolic below 80 mm Hg. Prehypertension is systolic of 120-139 mm Hg or diastolic of 80-89 mm Hg. Stage I hypertension is systolic of 140-159 mm Hg or diastolic of 90-99 mm Hg. Stage II hypertension is systolic of 160 mm Hg or higher or diastolic of 100 mm Hg or higher.

Dr.Toni Prasetia.Sp-PD DEFINITIONS OF HYPERTENSION
In the JNC 7 guidelines, the 7 categories of blood pres-
sure defined in JNC 6 were simplified and reduced to 4 categories :
• Normal blood pressure: SBP < 120 mm Hg and
diastolic blood pressure (DBP) < 80 mm Hg • Prehypertension: These are patients on the cusp of developing hypertension. It is defined as a SBP of 120-139 mm Hg or a DBP of 80-89 mm Hg • Stage I hypertension: SBP 140-159 mm Hg or DBP 90-99 mm Hg • Stage II hypertension: SBP 160 mm Hg or DBP 100 mm Hg
