• Born on July 27th 1939, Memphis, Tennesse.

Artistic Development
• Inspired by Robert Frank And Henri Cartier-
Bresson.
• Started photography in black and white and in
1965 with color. Color transparency became his
dominant medium.
• Taught at Harvard. He discovered dye-transfer
printing in a photographic lab in Chicago.
• Receives a National Endowment for the Arts
Photographer’s Fellowship.
• Prepared his first portfolio in Harvard. Exposed
in Moma.
• He has traveled around the world to take
pictures.

• Characterized by ordinary subject-matter.
• Uses dye-transfer print.
