STORAGE SHOULD BE DONE KEEPING IN MIND


• Access
• Manoeuvrability

• Storage is important to prevent deterioration, intrusion of foreign matter, preserve their quality and fitness for work
• No material should not be piled more than 4.5m in height.
CEMENT
• The place should be dry, leak proof & moisture
Proof
• The room should have minimum number of doors,
close fitting doors.
• The bags should be placed 150mm to 200mm clear
above the floor (lean cement concrete or two layers
of dry bricks)
• 600mm minimum space left around the stacks
• The bags should be kept close together to reduce air
circulation
• If more that 8 bags are stored in height, alternate
length and cross
• The bags should be used in order of the receiving
date of receipt
CEMENT
BRICKS
• Bricks should be stored close to the site.
• Bricks should be always stored on edge.
• They should be placed on dry ground.
• The distance between stacks should not be less that 0.8m
• The stacks shall not exceed 50 bricks in length, 10 bricks in
height and 4 bricks in width

BLOCKS
Blocks include - Hollow, Solid, Aerated concrete blocks, light
weight concrete block
If cured for less than 28 days, water cure for 10-14 days and air
cure for 15 days
The stacks shall not exceed 3m in length, 1.2 in height and 2-3
blocks in width
FLOOR, WALL AND ROOF TILES

• Tiles of different quality, sizes, uses shall be stacked separately


for ease of use
• The stacks shall not exceed 1m in height
AGGREGATES
• Hard dry and level patch of ground or a platform of planks or old corrugated iron
sheets, or a floor of bricks.
• To prevent contamination with clay, dust and other foreign matter.
• Fine aggregate shall be stacked in a place with effect of wind is minimum.

Suggested stacks for


Fine aggregate
• 2x2x 0.5
• 5x 5 x 1
• 5 x 1 x 0.5
Coarse aggregate
• 2x 2x 0.5
• 5x 5x 1
• 5x 1x 0.5
FLY ASH
• Fly ash is stored similar to fine aggregate, in stacks.
• Maximum ten bags in height
