HOW TO TELL IF A MOTHERBOARD IS BROKEN

Power up your computer and wait for a short


beep
If nothing is displayed on the monitor and you did
not hear a beep these are signs of a motherboard
failure
Symptoms of a Good & Bad
Motherboard:
Good:
● The motherboard/pc will work
● Pins are straight
● Flashing lights
● Beep/ring indicated

Bad:
● The Computer won't turn on
● Pins are bent/missing
● Failure to boot when turned on
● The computer may freeze for seemingly no reason
● Connected devices(external) won’t work
How to Disassemble A Motherboard

1.Static Free Environment- Ground yourself


2.Shut down computer and all power by removing all power cables
3.Remove screws from case side panel
4.Slide case open
5.Lay case down right side
6.Remove any connectors plugged into motherboard including components such as RAM
7.Once finished, tuck all cables by metal bracket to get them out of the way.
8.Locate and remove all screws securing the board itself
9. Grab the motherboard from the Heatsink over North Bridge or CPU fan carefully by avoid touching
the boards plate
10.Place motherboard in a anti-static bag.
How to Install The Motherboard

1. Ground yourself
2. Open the computer case
3. Put in the I/O Panel/shield if not already installed
4. Find the standoff area
5. Install the board given that the CPU fan is suppose to be beside the power
supply fan and the back panel ports are suppose to line up with the I/O
panel.
6. Place your motherboard on the standoffs
7. Begin screwing but DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREWS
7. Install your components (RAM)
