Infinitive Verbs

 An infinitive phrase is a group of words accompanied by an infinitive


For Example:
To help other is a good thing

There are 2 types of infinitives


 infinitive with to = to + verb
 infinitive without to or "zero infinitive" = verb (Bare Infinitive)

Infinitive Verbs

The infinitive with "to" or "to-infinitive" is used in numerous syntactic


constructions. Often, it expresses a purpose or opinión.

 Want, Would like, would love, decide, forget, learn,


teach, need, plain, promise.

 For example:

 I decide TO BUY a house near the sea.


 You forget TO BRING your jacket.

For example:

Bare Infinitive

 The infinitive without "to" (bare infinitive) is so called


because it lacks the "to“

For Example:
 He made me write the essay again.

 Can, Could, May, Will, would, should and must.

For Example:

 Will you STOP talking


 You must VISIT the doctor today

Example:
