Capacitor in Series
CT=1/(1/C1+1/C2+1/C3+…………)

2. Capacitor in Parallel
C T =C1+C2+C3
3. Capacitor in Series with the same capacitance
value
 For two capacitor: CT =C/2
 For three capacitor:CT =C/3
 For more than three:C T =C/n
Note:
o A capacitor in series connection, the possible value is
less than the smallest value of the series capacitor
Example:
1. Series:
Given: C1= 10µF; C2= 100µF
Solution:
CT= 1
1/ 10µF+1/ 100µF
CT= 9.09µF

2. Parallel:
Given: C1= 10µF; C2= 100µF
Solution: CT= C1 + C2
=10µF+ 100µF
=110µF
3. Capacitor in Series with the same capacitance
a. Given: C1=100µF, C2=100µF
Solution: CT= C/n
=100µF/2
=50µF
b. Given: C1=330µF, C2=330µF, C3=330µF
Solution: CT= C/n
=330µF/3
=110µF
