Pitch

Task Brief

• Our task was to create a low budget TV drama

that’s aimed at 15 – 25 year olds.
• It will be broadcast on BBC 3 and will be aired
after the watershed at 9pm (despite BBC 3 only
being on iPlayer)
Idea Outline
• Teen / adventure drama
• A group of teens find a dead body handcuffed to a
suitcase. The Suitcase is owned by an organization
the Teens refer to as the ‘Super Secret Society’ and
contains top secret information about the group.
• On their journey, the teens will only have each other
as contact with anyone else will put them in danger.
• The series follows the group of teens as they make
their way across the UK to reveal the truth.
Statement of need
• USP is that there aren’t many if any teen dramas that deal
with big conspiracies
• Lots of drama between the characters which will entice
viewers

• Target audience is 15 – 25 years old as stated in the brief

• Could appeal to males more as they tend to like action and
conspiracy dramas
• Female audience not ruled out as they may like the romantic
and personal drama the characters experience
• Overall, the drama will be meant to cater for everyone not
just because of the BBC remit but to bring in a bigger
audience
Budget
• Assumed budget of £50,000 as stated from BBC.
• Bigger budget allows for more visual and special
effects.
• Also allows us to cast one or two familiar actors to
attract an audience. They would only play limited
roles such as parents, characters we won’t see too
often but we can say they’re in it and fans of that
actor will watch the series.
• We can also possibly have more episodes in the series
without affecting the quality of the rest of the series.
Resources
We will need a wide range of equipment and personnel. They include what is
stated bellow and possibly more depending on what the episode needs.
• Equipment • Personnel
– Cameras
– Actors
– Camera stands
– Microphones – Cameramen
– Boom poles and Mic – Boom operators
stands (if necessary)
– Mic shields and Wind – Editors
Muffler – Recording Artist
– Computers with – Director
recording and editing
software – Assistant Director
Marketing and Distribution
• The show will be distributed on BBC iPlayer as a BBC 3 series. Only Available
in the UK so may want to make deals with other distributors.
• Joint venture with the CW because in recent years they have invested a lot
of money in teen dramas.
• Trailers can be shown in between BBC shows on their channels like BBC
One, BBC Two etc..
• CW, or whoever we make a joint venture with, can also do the same on their
network should we make a joint venture with them.
• We most certainly will create a social media campaign as the target
audience is teenagers and they are mostly on social media so a social media
campaign on sites that teens use the most such as Snapchat or Instagram.
• If we can afford a known actor to play a role in the show, we can use that to
promote the show for instance they can advertise on their social media and
some people will watch the show, whether they play a big part in it or not.
Legal
• Make sure that the show is given the correct
guidance rating.
• Ratings may not me necessary because of the show
being on BBC 3, but it would give the audience an
idea of what to expect during the show.
These are ratings from BBC iPlayer
Conclusion
• It can teaches teens about conspiracy and
corruption
• It may give the audience a confidence boost to do
good things like help each other and to stand up to
things that are wrong.
• I think that this is a unique idea and I think that this
could do well.
