environmental issues and problems in the
context of sustainable development.
 The Philippine environmental law
encompasses all the protections for our
environment that emanate from the:

 a) Constitution
 b) Statutes and local ordinances
 c) Regulations promulgated by the state and
local regulatory agencies
 d) Court decisions interpreting these laws
 e) Common law
 It has also be defined to be a set of legal
rules addressed specifically to activities that
potentially affect the quality of the
environment, whether natural or man made.
 The Philippine Constitution of 1987 declares
the people’s right to the environment in a
provision states that:

 “The State shall protect and advance the right


the people to a balanced and healthful
ecology in accord with the rhythm and
harmony of nature.”
