Chapter 4
Paul desired to go to Rome 1:10-13, but had been prevented 1:13; 15:22; now he hopes to go there on his way to Spain 15:23-25

Paul’s Roman readers could have understood faith as being a new method of
salvation since he contrasted faith with the law. Circumcision / Law was not a
tool to save but was leading towards the Saviour with Obedience.

Was justification by faith a uniquely Christian revelation as contrasted with

Jewish doctrine? No. In this chapter the apostle showed that God has always
justified people by faith alone.

In particular, Paul emphasized that God declared Abraham, the father of the
Jewish nation, righteous because of his faith. There is only one method of
salvation (3:29-30) from the beginning.

Rom 4:1 அப் படியானால் , நம் முடடய தகப் பனாகிய ஆபிரகாம் மாம் சத்தின்படி என்னத்டதக்
கண்டடடந்தான் என்று சசால் லுநவாம் ?
Rom 4:2 ஆபிரகாம் கிரிடயகளினாநல நீ திமானாக்கப் பட்டானாகில் நமன்டமபாராட்ட அவனுக்கு
ஏதுவுண்டு; ஆகிலும் நதவனுக்குமுன்பாக நமன்டமபாராட்ட ஏதுவில் டல.
Rom 4:3 நவதவாக்கியம் என்ன சசால் லுகிைது? ஆபிரகாம் நதவடன விசுவாசித்தான், அது
அவனுக்கு நீ தியாக எண்ணப் பட்டது என்று சசால் லுகிைது. On what he had faith?
Rom 4:4 கிரியை செை் கிறவனுக்கு வருகிை கூலி கிருடபசயன்சைண்ணப் படாமல் ,
கடசனன்சைண்ணப் படும் .
Rom 4:5 ஒருவன் கிரிடய சசய் யாமல் பாவிடய நீ திமானாக்குகிைவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசம்
டவக்கிைவனாயிருந்தால் , அவனுடடய விசுவாசநம அவனுக்கு நீ தியாக எண்ணப் படும் . Genesis

In Paul's day many of the rabbis taught that Abraham experienced justification because of his obedience rather
than because of his faith.

Rom 4:9 இந்தப் பாக்கியம் விருத்தநசதனமுள் ளவனுக்குமாத்திரம் வருநமா,

விருத்தநசதனமில் லாதவனுக்கும் வருநமா? ஆபிரகாமுக்கு விசுவாசம் நீ தியாக எண்ணப் பட்டது
என்று சசால் லுகிநைாநம.
Rom 4:10 அது எப் சபாழுது அவனுக்கு அப் படி எண்ணப் பட்டது? அவன் விருத்தநசதனமுள் ள-
வனாயிருந்த நபாநதா, விருத்தநசதனமில் லாதவனாயிருந்தநபாநதா? விருத்தநசதனமுள் ள-
வனாயிருந்தநபாதல் ல, விருத்தநசதனமில் லாதவனாயிருந்தநபாநத. Gen 17:24 / 15:6
Rom 4:11 நமலும் , விருத்தநசதனமில் லாத காலத்தில் அவன் விசுவாசத்தினாநல அடடந்த நீ திக்கு
முத்திடரயாக விருத்தநசதனமாகிய அடடயாளத்டதப் சபை் ைான். விருத்தநசதனமில் லா -
தவர்களாய் விசுவாசிக்கிை யாவருக்கும் நீ தி எண்ணப் படும் சபாருட்டாக அவர்களுக்கு அவன்
தகப் பனாயிருக்கும் படிக்கும் ,
Rom 4:12 விருத்தநசதனத்டதப் சபை் ைவர்களாய் மாத்திரமல் ல, நம் முடடய தகப் பனாகிய ஆபிரகாம்
விருத்தநசதனமில் லாத காலத்தில் அடடந்த விசுவாசமாகிய அடிச்சுவடுகளில்
நடக்கிைவர்களாயுமிருக்கிைவர்களுக்குத் தகப் பனாயிருக்கும் படிக்கும் , அந்த அடடயாளத்டதப்
சபை் ைான்.

Abraham’s main faith points

1. God tells him to leave his homeland to be a stranger in the land of Canaan
2. Immediately after his arrival in the Promised Land, he encounters a famine
3. The Egyptians seize his beloved wife, Sarah, and bring her to Pharaoh
4. Abraham faces incredible odds in the battle of the four and five kings
5. God tells him to circumcise himself at an advanced age (99 yrs)
6. The king of Gerar captures Sarah, intending to take her for himself
7. God tells him to sacrifice his dear son Isaac upon an altar / after Ishmael was
sent out !!

Genesis 13:8-13 Abraham directed a peaceful separation from Lot and settled at the
oaks of Mamre.
Genesis 14:17-24 Abraham gave a tithe of loot to the godly king of Salem, Melchizedek,
and refused the gift of the king of Sodom.
Genesis 15:1-6 Abraham trusted God’s promise that he would have a son. 17:17 !
Genesis 15:7-11 Abraham received the promised land by faith, though the fulfillment
would not come for many generations.
Genesis 17:9-27 At God’s command, Abraham circumcised every male in his family.
Genesis 18:1-8 Abraham welcomed strangers, who turned out to be angels.
Genesis 18:22-33 Abraham prayed for Sodom.
Genesis 20:1-17 Abraham admitted to wrongdoing (Sarah as Sister) and took the actions
needed to set things right.
Genesis 22:1-12 Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac.

Rom 4:13 அன்றியும் , உலகத்டதச் சுதந்தரிப் பான் என்கிை வாக்குத்தத்தம்

ஆபிரகாமுக்காவது அவன் சந்ததிக்காவது நியாயப் பிரமாணத்தினால் கிடடயாமல்
விசுவாசத்தினால் வருகிை நீ தியினால் கிடடத்தது.

Rom 4:14 நியாயப் பிரமாணத்டதச் சார்ந்தவர்கள் சுதந்தரவாளிகளானால் விசுவாசம்

வீணாய் ப் நபாகும் , வாக்குத்தத்தமும் அவமாகும் .

Rom 4:17 அநநக ஜாதிகளுக்கு உன்டனத் தகப் பனாக ஏை் படுத்திநனன் என்று
எழுதியிருக்கிைபடி, அவன் தான் விசுவாசித்தவருமாய் , மரித்நதாடர உயிர்ப்பித்து,
இல் லாதடவகடள இருக்கிைடவகடளப் நபால் அடைக்கிைவருமாயிருக்கிை நதவனுக்கு
முன் பாக நம் சமல் லாருக்கும் தகப் பனானான்.

Rom 4:20 நதவனுடடய வாக்குத்தத்தத்டதக்குறித்து அவன் அவிசுவாசமாய் ச் சந்நதகப் படாமல் ,

Rom 4:21 நதவன் வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணினடத நிடைநவை் ை வல் லவராயிருக்கிைாசரன்று முழு
நிச்சயமாய் நம் பி, நதவடன மகிடமப் படுத்தி, விசுவாசத்தில் வல் லவனானான்.
Rom 4:22 ஆடகயால் அது அவனுக்கு நீ தியாக எண்ணப் பட்டது.
Rom 4:23 அது அவனுக்கு நீ தியாக எண்ணப் பட்டசதன்பது, அவனுக்காகமாத்திரமல் ல, நமக்காகவும்
எழுதப் பட்டிருக்கிைது.
Rom 4:24 நம் முடடய கர்த்தராகிய இநயசுடவ மரித்நதாரிலிருந்து எழுப் பினவடர விசுவாசிக்கிை
நமக்கும் அப் படியை எண்ணப் படும் .
Rom 4:25 அவர் நம் முடடய பாவங் களுக்காக ஒப் புக்சகாடுக்கப் பட்டும் , நாம்
நீ திமான்களாக்கப் படுவதை் காக எழுப் பப் பட்டும் இருக்கிைார்.
