GANTT-CHART
A Gantt chart, commonly used in project management, is one of the most
popular Tool
Gantt Charts are useful tools for analyzing and planning complex projects
Give a basis for scheduling when these tasks will be carried out
A Gantt Charts help to monitor whether the project is on schedule.
INTRODUCTION
Project scheduling and control refers to the planning, scheduling and control
of projects, which consist of numerous activities.
the CPM (Critical Path Method) (for developing strategies to complete a
project in less than what would normally be regarded as the minimum time)
the PERT (Project Evaluation Review Technique) (for determining
probabilities associated with completion times when the activity durations are
unknown).
PREREQUISITES
Gantt chart forces group members to think clearly about what must be done to
accomplish their goal.
Computer software can simplify constructing and updating a chart.

They are useful in managing the dependencies between tasks.
When a project is under way, Gantt charts are useful for monitoring its
progress. You can immediately see what should have been achieved at a point
in time, and can therefore take remedial action to bring the project back on
course.
This can be essential for the successful and profitable implementation of the
project.
Benefits Of GANTT-CHART
1. Clarity- One of the biggest benefits of a Gantt chart is the tool's ability to
boil down multiple tasks and timelines into a single document.
2. Communication -Teams can use Gantt charts to replace meetings and
enhance other status updates. Simply clarifying chart positions offers an easy,
visual method to help team members understand task progress.
3. Motivation-Some teams or team members become more effective when
faced with a form of external motivation
To draw up a Gantt chart, it must follow
these steps:
1.Create a Task List for the Microsoft Project Timeline
The first step in building a Gantt chart is to create a list of required tasks.
Try to prioritize the tasks in the order they need to be completed. Even if
there are dependencies involved, put in tasks that need to happen first.
1. Open Microsoft Project and click Blank Project.
2. Add the list of tasks for the project to the Task Name Column.

from the calendar or enter the dates manually.
3. Enter the end date for the task by clicking on the
corresponding Finish cell. Click the arrow in the box to select a date from
the calendar or enter the dates manually.
4. Leave the Duration cell empty, Microsoft Project will automatically
populate the amount of days the task will take.

Enter the predecessors according to the dependency of the activities or tasks
on others..
Automatically create the Gantt chart bar on the basis of the durations, starting,
finishing and predecessors.
Schedule them in such a way that sequential actions are carried out in the
required sequence.
Ensure that dependent activities do not start until the activities they depend on
have been completed.
While scheduling, ensure that you make best use of the resources you have
available, and do not over-commit resource.
