The books were published by Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm in 1812 as
Nursery and Household Tales

They didn’t write the stories themselves. Stories were from Germany
The stories as we know them now used to be quite different then
• Cindrella’s sisters cut off their heels and toes
• Rapunzel got pregnant after a short fling with the prince.
• Snow White had her own mother as the evil queen. She met with a
horrible death.
Edgar Taylor published a toned down version of the stories in
English. Grimm’s 7th edition.
Removal of the story Hans Dumm
Authors like Margaret Atwood have revisited these tales.
