Specific Praise: Express approval of what they are doing or how they are playing
• “I like how you are playing with your ball.”
• “I like how you’re playing with your brother.”
• “Great listening skill.”
• “Thank you for helping clean up.”
• “Good job brushing your teeth.”

Planned Ignoring: Do not tell them not to do the bad behavior, ignore it and praise
the good behavior.
• Don’t say “don’t throw the toy” or “no biting”
• Turn your back or walk out of the room
