1. Distribute poker cards amongst students 2. The teams will be divided into groups of four. 3. The teams will be chosen random based on the poker card that was given to them. For example if Mr. Kolm has the number 4 of spades and Mr. Munoz has the number 4 of hearts, then we would be in the same team 4. Once you get with your group, you all have to decide roles for each member 5. Facilitator- makes sure that the team starts to work on the challenge and makes sure that everyone understands the math Rules of the game (continued) 6. Team Captain- makes sure everyone gets a turn answering a question and/or shooting a basketball 7. Recorder/ Reporter- makes sure everyone does their part 8. Resource manager- makes sure to get all the materials they need (calculator, pencil, challenge) 9. Once all the teams have decided on their roles students will decide who wants to shoot the basketball. There will be four opportunities to shoot, but if someone chooses not to shoot they can give their shot to another team member Rules (cont’d) 10. Students will have 8 minutes to finish a challenge 11. Once the 8 minutes are up even if students haven’t finish all of the problems in the challenge they will still have a chance to get extra credit points by shooting a basketball 12. There will be multiple ways to receive extra credit • The first way is if a team finishes the challenge and all of the problems are correct (one extra credit for every problem) • The second way even if all of the problems are not completed they will still shoot a basketball and depending on how many problems they completed will determine how far they have to shoot from (one extra credit point) 13. Once all of the teams have had a chance to shoot, we will go to the next challenge 14. Make sure to turn your challenge to me with all of the names in your team 15. Most important rule is to have fun and cheer for your team members when they are shooting a basket Reminder • Test tomorrow, homework packet is due on test day • Make sure to bring your notes
