Galileo Galilei

Early Life
Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy on 15 February 1564. He was the oldest of six in his family, His
father Vincenzo was a famous composer, as was his younger brother. Galileo was a very religious
man, and almost became a priest. Although being staunchly roman catholic, churches and schools
tried him for heresy twice.
Accomplished Scientist

Galileo studied speed velocity, gravity and free fall, the principle of
relativity, inertia, projectile motion and also worked in applied science and
technology. Galileo was essential in learning more about the planets as
well. He was one of the first people to theorize the sun as the center of the
solar system.
Inventions

Galileo invented the thermoscope (A device that shows temperature


change), he also made many useful military compasses. Not only did Galileo
invent useful tools, he also improved the telescope tremendously. Galileo is
most known for dropping an apple and feather off the leaning tower of Pisa,
this experiment demonstrated the laws of inertia.
