VDC: Locker Organizer

The Problem
Client: School Superintendent
Target Consumer: High school students
Design Statement: Design a high school
locker organization system that will
neatly contain items commonly used
and kept at school.
Problem statement
“School lockers are a mess. Students can
never find a pen, pencil, or calculator, and
their homework is always getting lost.
Those who bring their lunch to school often
find their food crushed under a sea of
books and binders. Because of the clutter, it
is often difficult for students to close their
locker doors completely.”

The measurements of an average
Wapahani High School locker is 12’’ wide
x 14’’ deep x 69’’ tall.

The height from the bottom of the locker

to the shelf is 59’’ tall and the shelf itself
is 1’’ tall.
Logan’s Idea #1

There are slots for books and some

shelves for other items like a pencil
holder and erasers.
 This idea is to put the main piece of
the organizer into the locker and it
Joey’s Idea #1 has slots in it were you can put the
shelves and the holders were ever
you want.
Joey’s Idea #2

This idea would just sit at the

bottom of your locker and you
would sit things on it and put your
backpack and books under it.
Sam’s Idea #1

This idea consisted of diagonal

shelving that would hold items with
hinges between the shelves.
Sam’s Idea #2
This idea had vertical shelving with
shelves that could be easily slid in
and out for smaller or larger items
in the locker.

This was the idea that was chosen

for the base of our project.
We chose “Sam’s Idea #2”
because we thought that it would
provide the best solution to
having messy lockers with
vertical storage and shelving that
is easily changed and accessible.
