ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

Adjective clause : Clause which explains about noun or pronoun.


E.g :
The woman who lives next door… (‘who lives next door’ tells us
which woman)
People who live in the country… (‘who live in the country’ tells us
what kind of people)

• You can use when in a relative clause to talk


about time.
E.g :
• We don’t know the time when she came here.
• My baby was born in the year when I moved to
Italy

• You can use why in a relative clause to talk about
reason.
E.g :
I don’t know the reason why she arrived late.
Combining Sentences
• This is Alexa. She bought my motorcycle.
Alexa is the person who bought my motorcycle.
• The girl came to the school yesterday. She was hospitalized for a
month.
The girl who came to the school yesterday was hospitalized for a
month.
• The book is mine. The book is on the table.
The book which is on the table is mine.
• They know the teacher. The teacher’s motorcycle was stolen
yesterday.
They know the teacher whose motorcycle was stolen yesterday.
