• KUALA LUMPUR - The Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim)

advised consumers not to use foreign fish products.

• This is due to the instant ingredient of instant rice that is sold in the package made
from python meat.

• Jakim said in a statement that the product label manipulated overseas halal logos
recognized by JAKIM, The Central Islamic Committee of Thailand (CICOT).

• "For information, based on feedback received by us from CICOT, the product has
received halal certification from them since 2012.

• "However, the product is no longer the holder of the CICOT Halal Certificate. And
the issue is still under the Thai court's jurisdiction over the issue of expired halal
logo, "the statement said.

• Add that statement again, users are advised to avoid using the product until the
case investigation is over.

• Halal Hub Division spokesman said he was aware of the spread of the fake
information that had been re-circulated.

• Clearly, Magnum's ice cream has an Overseas Halal Certification Certificate of the
Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) and The Central Islamic Committee of Thailand
(CICOT) and it is acknowledged by JAKIM.

• "The JAKIM has confirmed the matter before (not containing illegal sources).
Members of the public are advised to buy ice cream products that have the
Malaysian Halal Certification and Logo Certificate or JAKIM-recognized Halal Logo,
"he said.

• While JAKIM had previously described the confusion over Code E, which often
linked to the forbidden material and most often misinterpreted was E471.

• According to JAKIM Director-General Datuk Othman Mustapha, Code E is code for


additives (additives) and is always used on food labels in the European Union
countries which refer to permitted additives, Bernama reported .

• E471 is an emulsifier of mono and diglyceride, which is the source of synthetic fats
derived from glycerol and natural fatty acids, especially in plants such as palm oil
or animal fat.

brought illegally from neighboring countries,
