What is MTSS What is NOT
MTSS?
MI Excel MTSS Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework used
by schools/districts to ensure high levels of learning for all
Definition students academically and non-academic (social, emotional,
behavioral, health and nutritional). MTSS focuses on providing
high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student
need while using data continuously and systematically at all
levels to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all
components of the system. “Need-driven” decision-making
seeks to ensure that district resources reach the appropriate
students (schools) at the appropriate levels to accelerate the
performance of ALL students to achieve career and college
readiness.
