CARNIVAL OF HUARAZ

DEDICATION

this work is dedicated to our

parents who always supported
us.
DEVELOPMENT

During the months of February and

March the huaracino carnival takes
place, an event of color and festival.

My parents used to say that the

carnival was for the family. now they
say it's more for the young.
THE CROSSES OF THE
CARNIVAL
it is a cultural manifestation very
typical of the peasants. Our
grandparents used to say that in
the 60's there were only four
crosses. now you see crosses
from everywhere.
MASKS OF HUARAZ

Mr. Medardo Alegre, He made the

first masks based on cement paper
and newspaper. the masks that

used to be of that material are

almost non-existent. Now the
cintetico material is used to make
their masks
CORTAMONTE

It was not traditional carnival

huaracino but in the 90s but little by
little it became part of the carnival.

my parents used to say that the

cortamonte was traditional from
Arequipa and that we copied it
JOY, COLOR AND
TRADITION:

The Carnival of Huaraz is a

festivity where I used to
celebrate with joy and
enthusiasm.It is also celebrated
in the different neighborhoods
and towns near Huaraz,
ÑO CARNAVALÓN

I also used to accompany Ño

Carnavalón (King Momo), a
character that represents fertility,
whose full name is José Domingo
Carnavalón and has become an
inspiration to compete for the
best quality in costume or
originality.
