Type I: Parenting

• “Help all families establish home environments to support


children as students.”
• Provide workshops and parent education in child-rearing, GED,
literacy and college credit.
• “Understanding of and confidence about parenting, child and
adolescent development, and changes in home conditions for learning
as children proceed through school” (Epstein, n.d.).
• Provide support programs in health and nutrition.
• Provide home visits to assist in transition between entry into
elementary, elementary and intermediate, intermediate and high
school. (Epstein, J., n.d.)
• Idea: A series of neighborhood meetings to introduce families to the
support programs the school will provide.
