 Uterus
 nonpregnant : 70 g and is almost solid, except for a cavity of 10 mL or less , original piri- form or
pear shape
 Pregnant: capacity that is 500 to 1000 times greater total vol : 5-20L, organ weight 1100gr
 enlargement : hypertrophy of muscle cells , elastic tissue , <12 weeks stimulated by estrogen and
progesteron?, >12 weeks mechanical distention by the products of conception > placental site
enlarges more rapidly
 early pregnancy : fallopian tubes and the ovarian and round ligaments attach only slightly below
the apex of the fundus
 later months : slightly above the middle of the uterus
