CALCIUM

*Calcium is essential to all living

things, particularly for the growth of
healthy teeth and bones.

*Calcium phosphate is the main

component of bone.

*The average human contains about

1 kilogram of calcium.

*Children should eat foods rich in

calcium, such as:
- Milk, Dairy products
- Leafy green vegetables
- Nuts and seeds ect.
CALCIUM
 Limestone ( Calcium
Carbonate) is used widely
as building stone.
 It is used directly as
building material, and
indirectly for cement.
 Gypsum(Calcium Sulfate)
is used by builders as
plaster and by nurses for
setting bones.
COPPER
 Copper is an essential
element.
 An adult human needs
around 1.2 milligrams of
copper a day, to help
enzymes transfer energy in
cells.
 Excess copper is toxic
 Foods high is copper include:
Beef liver, Dark chocolate,
sunflower seeds, ect.
COPPER
 Copper was the first metal
to be worked by people. it
was one of the metals
used to make coins, along
with silver and gold.
 Most is used in electrical
equipment such as wiring
and motors. This is
because it conducts both
heat and electricity very
well, and can be drawn
into wires.
IRON

 Iron is an essential element for all

forms of life and is non-toxic.
 The average human contains
about 4 grams of iron.
 A lot of this is in haemoglobin, in
the blood. Haemoglobin carries
oxygen from our lungs to the cells,
where it is needed for tissue
respiration.
 Humans need 10–18 milligrams of
iron each day.
 A lack of iron will cause anaemia
to develop.
 Foods such as liver, kidney,
molasses, brewer’s yeast, cocoa
and liquorice contain a lot of iron.
IRON
 Iron is the most important metal, 90% of metal on
earth today is iron.
 Most iron is used to manufacture steel with different
properties and uses. Its toughness, resistance to harsh
conditions and strength make is suitable for hard
tasks.
 Many cooking and kitchen ware and products are
made of stainless steel which is made from iron. This
form of iron does not get rust but is also strong and
durable.
 Heavy machines like cranes, road rollers, bore
machines are made of iron to a large extent. Even
transfer chains, tumblers, mixers etc. in factories are
made of iron.
