 Interactioms between

biotic components + non-biotic components

in a natural habitat

 Biotic components-refer to all living

organisms,include all plants,animals and
microorgnisms

 Non-biotic components-refers to all non-

living things,include light,air ,minerals and
rocks
 Biotic components interacts with biotic components

Biotic components interacts with biotic components
depents on

This phenomena is known as Interdependence

Forms a balanced and stable ecosystem

 Natural ecosystems are mostly complex

 Many species living together in the same habitat

 Different populations are interdepent on one

another and with the non-living environment

 The interdepence among living organisms and

enviroments creates a balanced ecosystem

 When a part is broken or removed, the system can

malfunction or fail altogether
 In a order to maintain a balanced
ecosystem, the following factors need to be
maintained:
a) The number of individuals in the different
populations
b) The number of populations in the different
communities
c) The composition of gases in the air and the
quality of the air
d) The availability of water, soil and nutrients
