Religion
• Growing up my mom wanted to have faith on our side,
something to give us hope when we really need it.
• My sisters and I were all Baptized Catholic.
• The Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments, I’ve
completed 3 which are Baptism, Communion and
Confirmation.
• I attend Church (almost) every Sunday and I am also a
leader in the LifeTeen program at St. Thomas More
Catholic Community. The LifeTeen program helps lead
high school teens closer to Christ and they also are able
to be Confirmed.
Nationalities/Traditions
• I am a mix of different things, I am Iberian,
Mexican and German.
• Being raised, we followed a lot of the Mexican
traditions, which can include Day of the Dead,
Cinco De Mayo and making Tamales for
Christmas.
• We are also raised in believing in some
superstitions, i.e., don’t mess with Ouija boards,
women cannot blow out saint candles, blessing a
house before you move in, etc..
Educational
Level
• My parents didn’t graduate from a traditional
college, they both when to a trade school and got
a degree from there.
• I was raised to value school and that it will help
me reach my highest potential.
• Stay in school no matter what
• I was told that if you go to school you’ll be
successful and find your calling.
• I found my calling and I’m glad I stayed in school
because I love teaching.
Family Structure
• I have 3 older sisters and they all have children, I
have a total of 3 nephews and 3 nieces and my
mom and dad also has almost 13 brothers and
sisters combined. So I do believe that I have a big
family.
• My Dad passed away when I was 6 and my mom
passed away when I was 16, so I was looked after
by my older sisters.
• I have grown to value who I have in my life and it
really put things into perspective.
