The multimedia met5hod is based on the
multimedia learning approach. The Multimedia
learning is a cognitive theory.
• With the multimedia presentation stimulates the sensory memory
• through the working memory of the person and this process makes to
• understand better the ideas and them stay more time in the long
• term memory.
The multimedia presentation is supported by 14
principles mainly. These principles affect the 2
principal channels on the brain of the person.

• Contiguity
• Redundancy
• Coherence
• Signaling
• Segmented
• Voice
Dr. Richard Mayer was the person who create
the multimedia learning approach.
• He is professor of the University of California, in Santa Barbara.

• Mayer's best known contribution to the field of educational


• psychology is multimedia learning theory, which posits that optimal
• learning occurs when visual and verbal materials are presented
• together simultaneously.
• Dr. Mayer's main interest is in determining how people learn
and how to help people teach.

• Dr. Mayer's research concerns the intersection of cognition,


instruction, and technology, including:
• (1) multimedia learning, such as determining how people learn
scientific explanations from computer-based animation, video, and
narration; how illustrations affect how people learn from scientific
text; or how people learn to solve problems from interactive
simulations.
