INTRODUCTION
• Wastewater (or waste water) is any water that has been
affected by human use. Wastewater is "used water from any
combination of domestic, industrial, commercial or
agricultural activities, surface runoff or stormwater, and any
sewer inflow or sewer infiltration".
• Wastewater is generally divided into two categories: black
water and gray water.
• Black water refers to toilet waste and gray water refers to the
remaining wastewater from sinks, showers, laundry, etc.
CONT….
• Wastewater treatment is the process of converting
wastewater – water that is no longer needed or is no longer
suitable for use – into bilge water that can be discharged back
into the environment.
Reasons of generation of waste
water
• The two main sources of water contamination are sewerage
and industrial waste.
• With both the population of India and its industrial landscape
increasing at a phenomenal speed, wastewater volume is also
at an alarming rise.
• Adding to this is the shrinking of freshwater sources like
rivers, wells, and groundwater and we have an alarming
situation.
• Some fear that very soon water may become a premium
commodity.
NEED OF WASTE WATER
TREATMENT IN INDIA
• Water is too important for us to treat this situation with
anything less than uttermost seriousness.
• Drinking water is essential for all humans. Water is vital for
livestock, the food industry, and farming.
• To a small extent, nature can deal with naturally produced
contaminants like human and animal waste.
• However, the massive amount of wastewater today cannot be
managed by nature alone.
Aim
• To understand and analyze the Concept of waste water
management in order to achieve Sustainable development
And reuse Of Waste Water To Recharge The Ground Water
Level By Using Bio Rock Based Waste Water Treatment Plant
BioRock
• BIOROCK provides a revolutionary, efficient and
reliable compact wastewater treatment technique.
• It is very compact and, the system is free from any blower or
air diffusors. It don’t need any electricity for the treatment
process, leading to minimal maintenance and repair cost, the
lowest operational cost and the longest desludge intervals.
• These unique advantages lead to significant costs savings for
the user as compared to the conventional wastewater
treatment plants, as the reliability of the system is maximized
with no possible breakdowns thus no need for expensive
spare parts.
How BioRock Works
• The BIOROCK complete system functions as a three-
stages treatment process.
– Initially the raw sewage enters a primary tank to
provide separation and the breakdown of organic
solids (Primary Treatment). The sewage then passes
through an effluent filter before discharging into the
BIOROCK unit which incorporates the well proven
aerobic digestion process (Secondary Treatment) and
filtration process (Tertiary Treatment).
– Where required the BIOROCK treatment unit can be
retrofitted to a traditional septic tank.
How Nature Works

• In traditional activated sludge systems (e.g. SBR), aerators

and/or agitators pump air 12-24 hours per day to provide
enough oxygen, so that a limited range of organisms can
survive to break down the waste.
• The BIOROCK units work without any electrical or mechanical
aerators – they simply require natural air draft for aeration.
Carbon Footprint
• In a mechanical system machinery works hard and is energy-
intensive with a high carbon footprint. Activated sludge is
using excessive amounts of fossil fuels in the form of
electricity for operating and sludge digestion.
• The BIOROCK aerobic treatment units have a very low carbon
footprint!
• BIOROCK is safe for the environment!
BIOROCK Process
Installation
1°) Excavation of thehole
-The influent pipe will determine the depthof
the excavation

-The difference between the water inlet and

the bottom of thetank is 1,400 mm

2°) Installation of thetanks

-The water should flow by gravity to thePrimary

Tank and onwards into the BIOROCK®unit

-The height difference water inlet andwater

outlet is 1.14 m
Installation
3°) Pipe connections
-connect all pipes before filling the tankswith
water
- Use PVCpipe, Ø 110mm
-Check the water tightness of the connections
- The effluent should flow by gravity
-Ensure that the effluent filter in the primary
tank is easily accessible

4°) Backfill with lean mix, pea gravel or

concrete and fill both tanks with water at
the same time
-Fill both primary tank and BIOROCK®unit
progressively with clean water

- Backfill in equal layers at the sametime

Advantages of the BIOROCK®

1. Durable & Reliable

Long absence periods possible.

2. Lowest operational costs

No mechanical and electrical components.

3. Long de-sludge interval

Primary tank requires emptying every 3-4 yearsonly.

4. Compact & light: “Plug andPlay”

As a result the installation is very simple and fast.

5. Completely silent
Advantages of the BioRock

6. No electricityrequired
Except to run a small pump to uplift clear water, if required

7. No moving parts
No spare parts to be replaced in the treatmentplant

8. Low carbon footprint

As no electricity is required, the CO2 emissions relating to the production of the
electricity are not present

9. Superb effluent quality

10. 2 stages (Large primary tank +Bioreactor)

As a result the BIOROCK®STPis tolerant of milk, beer, fats, tampons, baby wipes
and all types of sanitaryitems.
PLAN OF OUR PROJECT AFTER 1

• As till now we have studied about waste water
and Problems in India in waste water
treatment.
• In Coming Months we Will Start Our Model To
Show The Process Of Bio Rock Process.
