PENATALAKSANAAN
Pyrimethamine
• Folic acid antagonist
• Binding to and reversibly inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase of plasmodia
• Blocks the biosynthesis of purines and pyrimidines (essential for DNA synthesis
and cell multiplication)
• Failure of nuclear division at the time of schizont formation in erythrocytes and
liver
• Inhibits the reduction of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid (folinic acid).
PENATALAKSANAAN
Sulfadiazine
• Competitive inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase
(enzyme for the proper processing of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) which is
essential for folic acid synthesis.
• Inhibit synthesis of folic acid.
