‘Universal’. It is seen in a sepia
font resembling maybe the
time period as if dessert.
Too follow there is a
speech from the movie
used with a close- up the
main character.
The medium shot of him
highlights him as alone and
distant from everyone else. Alike
saying that he is not like the
others.
A flashback is then put in as we
see his life before once he was
respected. The long shot of him
riding away show the sense of
power he once had compared to
now.
The long shot of his ‘new home’ as he will
be a gladiator highlights the change in his
life from general to entertainment.
The shot of the woman may suggest that she
has an important roll to play later on in the
movie. Furthermore the fact that it is at this
time he states who he is, there seems to be
shock on her face.
This is when we find out what part of the
film his speech is coming from. We can see
a significant difference in power as, he is
now among the men on the ground instead
of riding but he is still at the front which
may show that he is still their leader.
The is at the time he says ‘I will have my
vengeance’ he close up him implies to the
public that it will be on him. Also there
seems to be a look of fear on the man face.
The tracking shot of the men entering the
coliseum makes the audience feel they are
going on this battle with the gladiators.
The close up of the shot not only
highlights that there is violence in
the film but also makes us feel
that we to are fighting for
Maximus.
 The violence is once again
emphasised and so is the
strength of Maximus

The low angle shot gives power to

Maximus as everyone is seen cheering
him on and so would the audience.
 The high angle shot no longer see’s the crowds
hero in the same light as he looks weak.
Furthermore the fact that we see it as if were
peeking to see him may show that they don't
want us to see him like this. This also helps the
trailer as it shows that there is a fall in his
success.

The over the shoulder shot

used lets us see the character
the public despises the most,
also highlights his wickedness
as it seems that he is smiling.
 There is once
again another
flash back but
this time told by
Commodus that
shows his past.

The fact that even as a slave it

seems that Maximus is still
respected shows us that he is a
true general and the trailer
highlights this fact continuously
as he is mostly seen in a state of
power.
 Until the next shot may suggest
that Maximus as once again
gained power as he emerges
from a tunnel in a low angle shot.

We return to the conversation which

still shows the audience that
Commodus is still holding the power.
 It now seems that
Maximus is taking revenge
in this long shot, regaining
his power.

His opponents are then

seen in a long shot which
highlights his struggle.
Deciding his fate is highlighted completely and
the emperor and his decision, furthermore it is
in a low angle shot.
His fate being decided in a
medium shot is important as
the audience are seen at the
same level as him suggesting
that him and the people are
alike.
The result is not good and the The trailer also shows the response of
