SYRINGE

By : Herliza Tamara
What is a syringe ?

A syringe is a pump consisting of a sliding plunger

that fits tightly in a tube. The plunger can be
pulled and pushed inside the precise cylindrical
tube, or barrel, letting the syringe draw in or
expel a liquid or gas through an orifice at the
open end of the tube.
How does it work ?

Pressure is used to operate a syringe. It is usually

fitted with a hypodermic needle, nozzle, or
tubing to help direct the flow into and out of the
barrel. Plastic and disposable syringes are often
used to administer medications.
Syringes consist of 3 parts , in
general :
1. Scale cylinder (barrel)
2. Place the needle on the end
(cap)
3. Piston with the handle
(plunger)
This syringe has a size of 1 ml , 3 ml , 5 ml , 10 ml ,
20 ml , 50 ml . Each size has different usage.
kinds of syringes

This tool is specifically used to
inject tuberculin. Called
Mantoux Test. This tool has a
volume capacity of 1 ml with a
scale distribution of up to 0.01

2. Glycerin syringe
Generally made of metal (stainless
steel) The form is like a regular
syringe, only the volume capacity
is greater, namely 30 ml, 50 ml,
and 100 ml. The tip of the kanule
is slightly curved downward with
the head tip.
3. Insulin syringe This syringe is
specifically for injecting insulin. Its
volume capacity is also 1.0 ml. Only
the distribution of the scale is
different.
