Basics of Geometry

Things around us suggest basic

geometric ideas and figures.The
top of a table may depict a plane
figure, the side of a door may
represent a lie segment,beam of
light from a motorcycle for a
ray,etc.

Point
Point ( . ) - represents an exact location in
space. We use a dot to symbolize a point and a
capital letter to name it.

Line
Line is a collection of points in a straight path
that shows two opposite directions that
extend on both sides and with no end.We use
2 points to name a line.

Line Segment
Is part of line with two endpoints. We use
two points to name a line segment.

Ray

Is a part of line with one endpoint that

stretches one direction with no end. We use
two points to name a ray

Angles

Is formed when two endpoints of two rays

meet at one point. The point is called the
vertex. We use 3 points to name an angle.

The middle point should be the vertex.

Is a flat figure. We name a flat figures

using its vertices
