WELCOME TO

MY SUMMER TRAINING IN
NETWORKING
AT
CHANDIGARH
Networking: It is a combination of two
or more devices with some media.
Classification of networking:-
 LAN:- Local area network

 CAN:- Campus area network

 MAN:- Metro area network

 WAN:- Wide area network

TOPOLOGY: It is an arrangement or layout of our
network that can be describe how can we design our
network.
 Bus Topology:

 Star Topology:
 Ring topology:-

 Tree topology:-

 Mesh topology:-
Network Devices
 MODEM
 ROUTER
 N.I.C
 HUB
 SWITCH
CABLE
 TWISTED PAIR CABLE
a. UTP
b. STP
 COAXIAL PAIR CABLE
 FIBRE OPTIC CABLE
a. SINGLE MODE (MONO MODE)
b. MULTIPLE MODE
According to colour coding there are
3 types of cable:-
 Straight cable
 Cross cable
 Roll over cable
SUBNETING
It is a process which divides a large complex
network into smaller parts.
It is done on 3 types of classes:-
1. Class A (1-126)
2. Class B (128-191)
3. Class C (192-223)
STEPS TO DO SUBNETING

1. How many subnets?

2. How many valid host in each
subnet?
3. Subnet mask and ranges?
4. Valid IP address or hosts?
OSI MODEL
The 7 layers of OSI model are:-
1.Application layer
2.Presentation layer
3.Session layer
4.Transport layer
5.Network layer
6.Data link layer
7.Physical layer
Modes of router
 User execution mode:
Router>
 Privlage execution mode:
Router#
 Global execution mode:
Router(config)#
 Interface mode:
Router(config-if)#
 Line mode:
Router(config)#line console 0
Router(config-line)#
 Rommon mode:
Rommon>
Commands of router
 Router#show running-configuration
 Router#show startup-configuration
 Router#show interface
 Router#show history
 Router#show controller s0/0
 Router#show ip interface brief
Applications of networking
 Data sharing
 Connectivity and communication
 Data security and management
 Internet access sharing
