CAREER PREFERENCE:
AN EFFICIENT TOOL FOR INCHS GUIDANCE OFFICE USE”

INTRODUCTION
 Background of the study
Guidance counselling plays a major role in the school industry today,
that includes assisting a student in terms of decision making to be placed in
certain ability track. Most of the time the counselors do a very little career in
counseling when it comes to assisting the students by putting them in certain
ability groups. Exceptions will always be there. Public schools are currently
beset with a shortage in Registered Guidance Counsellors, which consequently
made some public primary and secondary schools to designate or appoint
guidance advocates who are not well-trained in the professional services
offered by the Guidance and Counselling Office.
 Statement of the problem

Initao National Comprehensive High School has only guidance advocates


as an alternative solution for lack of guidance counselor. Teachers and
administrators do some extensive job in classifying the students according to
their ability groups.

 Objectives

The study seeks to propose a web-based assessment of some high school


student skills such as intellectual abilities and career preferences. in order to
provide Guidance advocates and designates some tools which could be
efficiently administered to the students using the computer.
 Significance

Using a proposed psychological-based advisory system to help guide


the students in choosing their career paths according to their ability to lessen the
academic casualty and to help improve the production of highly competitive
individuals of Initao Comprehensive National High School(INCHS).

 Scope

The study seeks to propose a web-based assessment of some high school


student skills such as intellectual abilities and career preferences. in order to
provide Guidance advocates and designates some tools which could be
efficiently administered to the students using the computer.
RATIONALE

• Guide the students to make a wise a career decision using a web-based


student IQ and Career Preference Assessment
• The student’s record will help the guidance advocates make effective advising
to the students
• Database of the student’s records can help on the assessment and evaluation
of academic tracks

• The student will undergo sets of questions from different subjects


• The system will analyze the answers and be expected to present an accurate
result
• The system will show results in graphical and numerical presentations by
category

Description

The admin creates an account for himself and the student. The student and
admin enter their account. The system verifies the account. The admin
creates/updates the test questionnaire to the system. The student answers the
test questionnaire. The system will provide a graphical and numeric result .The
system will provide alternative course’s based on the result.

SUMMARY
• The purpose of this project is to provide information that will help high school
students make a wise career decision using a proposed web based student IQ
• A web-based student IQ assessment have a set of questions from different
subjects, and will analyze the answers and present an accurate result. It will
show graphical and numerical presentations by category; showing its strengths
and weaknesses of a student. The web-based student IQ assessment will also
help the guidance advocates (faculties) to facilitate more students and make
effective advising to the students.
