Create your own band.

Your task:
• Work in a pair.
• You must invent a brand new band.
• Your band will be fictional (not real people).
• You will work on paper to produce materials that
explain your band.

• More detail on the next slides 

What’s your line up?
The basic line up for a pop/rock band is usually...
Lead singer

Guitarist

Bass player

Drummer
What’s your line up?
But some bands have even more...
Backing singers Keyboard player Rhythm guitarist

Trumpet & Saxophone Percussionist

What’s the name of your new band?
• One or two word names often work best (like Queen or
Little Mix).
• It needs to be memorable.
• It might reflect the genre of music your band is
playing and fit in with their overall image.

• You should also make up names for each fictional

person in the band (e.g. “the lead singer is called
Suzie, etc)
What songs will they play?
• Your band’s manager has decided that all the
songs on the band’s first album should be cover
versions.
• A cover version is when a singer or band does a version of
somebody else’s song.
• You must have 12 songs on your album.

• Try to include some new songs and some older

ones, if you know any.
Image and album cover:
• You need to decide what your band’s image will be.
• What type of clothes will they wear on stage?
• Also design their album art – think about album art
that you have seen (examples below).
Over to you...
• On paper, you should produce all the things
we’ve talked about.
• Use colours if possible.
• Work quickly to get it finished by the end.
