Continuous contact type gear Profile pump Correction Factor Correction factor is the radial displacement of tooth generating profile. As the positive correction factor increases, ideal flow delivery of gear pump increases. As the positive correction factor increases, contact ratio of teeth decreases and hence trapped volume decreases. As the positive correction factor increases, pulsation flow rate factor decreases. Also as the positive correction factor increases, bending stress of teeth decreases. Pressure angle is the angle between the common normal to the contacting teeth ( line of action) and the common tangent to the pitch circle of meshing gears. As the pressure angle of gear tooth increases, ideal delivery of gear pump increases. As the pressure angle of gear increases, seperating force increases. As the pressure angle of gear pump increases, wear rate of gears increases. By using analytical expressions we can optimize the tooth profile of external gear pump. The study shows that performance of gear pump can be improved by modifying the tooth profile of gear pump. Performance parameters like flow rate, trapped volume, pulsation flow rate factor of standard gear pump can be improved by using unstandardized gear.
