UBICACIÓN

La presa de las Tres Gargantas está situada en el curso del río Yangtzé entre las
ciudades de Chongqing y Yichang (provincia de Hubei) en China. Es la planta
hidroeléctrica más grande del mundo, superando recientemente a la de Itaipú sobre el
río Paraná y a la del Embalse de Guri (Venezuela).

HISTORIA Y CONSTRUCCIÓN
La construcción de la presa comenzó el 15 de diciembre de 1994, y se estimó que se prolongaría a lo largo de 17 años. El 9
de noviembre de 2001 se logró abrir el curso del río y en 2003 comenzó a operar el primer grupo de generadores. A
partir de 2004 se instalaron un total de 4 grupos de generadores por año hasta completar la obra.

El 6 de junio de 2006 fue demolido el último muro de contención de la presa, con

explosivos suficientes para derribar 400 edificios de 10 plantas. Tardó 12
segundos en caer. Se terminó el 30 de octubre de 2010. Millones de personas
fueron realojadas principalmente en nuevos barrios construidos en la ciudad
de Chongqing.

 El agua vuelve a su curso natural.
 Comienza la acumulación del agua.
 Se instarán las primeras turbinas ,
las cuales comenzaron a funcionar

 Diques de contención.
 Hormigonado masivo.

 La deposición de sedimentos
provocara un empeoramiento del
agua.
